By The People Special Screening
Filmed in Indianapolis during the most
recent presidential election,
By The People is an
unprecedented look at who and what it takes to put on an American
election.
Edited from more than eighty-five hours of footage shot during the
2004 presidential election,
By The People is important, insightful and quite often,
humorous. From the overworked staff at a county clerk's office to
the thousands of volunteers, the story is one of people, not of
politics. The film was edited in New York by Director Malindi Fickle
and cameraman Kris Lienert and sound design and audio post were
completed in Indianapolis by John Blankenship at Derringer
Productions. This is a film that everyone who cares about democracy
should make it a point to see. You'll never take voting for granted
again.
This film has been well received by the press, including favorable
reviews from the likes of the New York Times and New Yorker
magazine.
By The People was
shot on miniDV and then transferred to 35mm for theatrical
exhibition. Thus far it has had special screenings in New York city,
Austin, Texas, and Boston and now will have a special limited
engagement in Indianapolis before continuing to Portland, San
Francisco, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Washington DC.
